Question:
Dear Auntie Nangy,
I am 19 years old and he is 18. I don’t know what is wrong with me because when he comes to me, I deny that I love him but when I go to sleep, I feel something for him. What can I do to tell him the truth?
Answer:
SMS him and tell him about your feelings if you are too shy to do it in person. Are you sure what you feel for him is love? It could be that you just like this guy but don’t really love him just yet.

Question:
Dear Auntie Nangy,
I fell in love with a girl and the problem is she only SMSes me when she needs credit. When I SMS or call her telling her how much I love her, she tells me that I should wait for her to finish school. I found out that she doesn’t even go to school. She called me one day to lend her money because she has a problem, so I gave her the money. She dumped me today.
Answer:
Move on and forget about this girl. It sounds like she is only using you and trying to see what she can get out of you.

Question:
Dear Auntie Nangy,
I am 17 years old and I weigh 64 kg. What can I do to reduce my weight because I am sexy by nature?
Answer:
You don’t say how tall you are but your weight seems pretty normal to me. I am sure you are sexy by nature so you shouldn’t be concentrating on reducing the weight but perhaps maintaining the sexy body. You can do this by exercising and eating healthy just to stay fit. You might also be big-boned but not necessarily fat.

Question:
Dear Auntie Nangy,
I am 15 years old but I look older than my age. Can I use make-up?
Answer:
Using make-up will only make you look older. If your genes make you look older than your age, don’t try to hide it but rather embrace it. Love and accept yourself just the way you are.

Question:
Dear Aunty Nangy,
I am two months pregnant. How much is it to have an abortion? Is there any medication I can use to get rid of the baby?
Answer:
Abortions are illegal in Namibia and you should definitely not consider medication especially when administered or prescribed by so-called “experts”. I do not know what the reason is for you to want an abortion but the only thing you can do is to go to a doctor. Call Lifeline/Childline and talk to a counsellor who will give you expert advice.

Question:
Dear Auntie Nangy,
I am 17 years old and my brother had sex with the girl that I love. He is just using her because he has four other girlfriends. The girl also wants me. Can I start a relationship with her or not?
Answer:
You can start a relationship with this girl but you should keep some things in mind. This girl might try to get back at your brother by using you. If she really wants you it can be a very uncomfortable situation because she had a relationship with your brother. If you are sure about her feelings for you and you can deal with the fact that she and your brother had an affair, then go ahead.

Question:
Dear Auntie Nangy,
I am in love with someone else and I want to find out how I can love my girlfriend as much as I love the other girl. I no longer want to hurt her but I don’t know how to start loving my girlfriend. I really want to forget about the other girl.
Answer:
Then forget about the other girl. That means cutting off all contact with her and giving all your attention to your girlfriend. Look for the qualities that attracted you to her in the first place and work on those. Just concentrate on your current girlfriend.

Question:
Dear Auntie Nangy,
I am married and I have two children with my husband. I don’t know what went wrong but it has now been three years and he still doesn’t want to have sex with me. Please help me.
Answer:
You must talk to him and find out what the problem is, but it is never as simple as that. Men find it difficult to talk about their feelings and there might be a problem that he feels he cannot share with you. If the two of you can’t open up the channel of communication by yourself then the only option is to get professional help such as a marriage counsellor.
Your husband needs to understand that your marriage is important to you and that you love him and therefore want to keep what you have. He might find it easier to talk to somebody professional until both of you have learned how to communicate as this is basically what counselling is about.
