A new ultra-conservative Islamist member of the Egyptian parliament has resigned his seat and party post in a scandal over getting a nose job and then lying about it, Al Ahram reports. MP Anwar El-Balkimy, wearing bandages, had originally told reporters from his hospital bed that he had been attacked by masked gunmen on a desert highway between Cairo and Alexandria last week.
