The death of Education Minister Dr Abraham Iyambo on Saturday robs Namibia one of its brightest political stars. Iyambo epitomised a gallant son of the soil who worked his socks off for the greater good of the nation – when many of his peers were working towards their own personal good.
Iyambo, just like the rest of us, was no saint. But unlike many of his compatriots, he learned from his mistakes to make himself a better citizen. Read more about Hamba kahle Abraham!

The Namibian Constitution creates an incestuous relationship between the legislature and the executive, something that undermines claims that ours is a nation anchored on a sound separation of powers.
The fact that all senior ministers in this country are both members of parliament (legislature) and Cabinet (executive) compromises this very principle.

In yesterday’s edition of Namibian Sun two prominent public figures - a CEO of a town council and the board chairperson of a parastatal - fended off media enquiries concerning stories to do with their areas of responsibility.
In the case of Katima Mulilo Town Council CEO, Charles Nawa, the newspaper contacted him in connection with a N$500 000 tender awarded to the mayor’s son, while Namibia Airports Company (NAC) board chairperson Ndeuhala Katonyala was asked about the suspension of the parastatal’s CEO Ben Biwa.
