Kavango ‘axe murderer’ nabbed
The man who has been on the run after allegedly murdering his wife in the Kavango Region, has been apprehended and booked into police custody, Namibian police (NamPol) Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton has confirmed.
Paulus Ncame, who was arrested on Monday allegedly hacked his wife, Elina Leevi, to death with an axe last week Wednesday. He reportedly killed Leevi, the mother of his three-year-old son when he arrived home late in a drunken state and started an argument with her for not having prepared food for the children.
It is alleged that Ncame had often physically abused by beating Leevi, who was previously married to his late brother, claiming she was seeing other men behind his back.
“Ncame was ambushed by Police at Mpuku Village. He had little chance to run away as he did on previous occasions. The village where he was caught was far away from his home village of Sinono were he committed the alleged crime.” Bampton said.
Ncame will appear in the Rundu Magistrate Court today.
Meanwhile, the Caprivi Region NamPol Deputy Commissioner, Rudolf Kanyetu is seeking assistance from local inhabitants of Katima Mulilo and the country at large to help trace the murder suspect who is still on the run after killing his estranged lover last week Tuesday.
Kanyetu said the police and investigating officer have had little luck in apprehending Sonny Mbeha, who is now a prime suspect as he was the last person seen with Monde Mbololwa, found in a pool of blood after she was stabbed to death.
“We have not managed to catch the suspect despite investigation continuing. We are now seeking assistance from the community members at large in helping us trace him. We will treat any tip-off with anonymity. Any information will be highly appreciated,” Kanyetu said
The relationship between Mbeha - a taxi driver, and Mbololwa, who was a retailer, is said to have been a volatile one, and the suspect had on numerous occasions physically abused her.
Mbololwa’s body was discovered with multiple stab wounds inside her house at Namibia Housing Enterprise (NHE) residential area. It is alleged that prior to the murder, Mbeha and Mbololwa were involved in an argument.
