Dear Auntie Nangy, For two weeks my penis has been itchy now, there’s a white discharge coming out of it every hour and I am always wet. Please tell me what type of infection this is and what can I do to treat it? If you are sexually active then you may have a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI).
You should see a doctor as soon as possible. If you are not sexually active, the infection may be something like balanitis, which is an unpleasant and irritating, but seldom serious infl ammation. It is a common condition in mainly uncircumcised men and is usually associated with poor hygiene. If you don’t wash under the foreskin a cheesy substance called smegma accumulates, which can become infected. Irritation caused by sensitivity to ingredients in soaps and detergents, allergic reactions to rubber or deodorant or even rough handling - particularly during masturbation - can make the penis sore and prone to infection. Your best bet is to wash your penis thoroughly every day, especially if you are uncircumcised. You need to see a doctor, because severe balanitis can be a sign of diabetes.
